Mortgage lender Nationwide Building Society has claimed it is doing more for first-time buyers than any other provider, noting it is aiming to increase education for such people while also providing a link between savings and borrowing.
The group explained it is showing its support for affordable housing schemes and offering guidance through the home loan process as well.
It is launching a new advertising campaign, entitled We Do More for First-Time Buyers, to illustrate this approach.
The project will include television, radio, online and print material and aims to highlight the services it offers those looking to get their foot on the first rung of the property ladder.
Martyn Dyson, head of mortgages at Nationwide – which is regulated by the Financial Services Authority – said: “We are serious about supporting the housing market and a key part of this is helping new homeowners realise their dreams by getting their foot on the housing ladder.”
The industry figure observed the new promotion should serve to remind prospective buyers that there are opportunities available, despite all of the doom and gloom currently associated with the housing markets.
