Slight increase in cash buyers compared to mortgage users

There has only been a marginal increase in the number of cash buyers in the UK compared to the amount of mortgage customers since the end of 2010.
This is according to Quick Move Now – a home buyer that purchases and offloads hundreds of homes every year – which found a relatively stable trend for the measure in this time.
It was shown that recent years have only seen a slight rise in the average proportion of money buyers in relation to those making use of a home loan arrangement.
Donna Houguez, market analyst at the organisation, noted the findings are in contrast to the popular belief that increasing numbers are choosing to pay for their dwelling in money upfront.
Ms Houguez stated: “We believe the primary cause for this is that cash buyers are choosing wisely and only purchasing those properties where there is a possibility of a significant return on investment .”
The findings showed that while 68.19 per cent of those who have snapped up homes since the end of 2010 have done so with the help of a mortgage, just 31.81 per cent completed the deal by paying in cash.
