Britain’s mortgage customers wish to leave a property legacy for their offspring, new research has shown.
According to the data from protection and retirement specialist LV=, property and money are the assets Brits most want to pass down to their kids.
Fifty-nine per cent of adults want to leave their children a home, while 58 per cent would happily leave them a sum of cash, the survey found.
However, the research also showed that less than half (42 per cent) of Brits expect to receive some form of inheritance themselves.
Meanwhile, 85 per cent of respondents said they would like to pass on good manners to the younger members of their family, with good behaviour and strong values also proving popular with 82 per cent of people.
LV= managing director for retirement solutions John Perks said: “This research highlights a disparity between the number of Brits who are planning to leave some kind of financial asset behind for their family and those who believe there will anything left for them to inherit – this suggests that many may be pleasantly surprised.”
Meanwhile mortgage customers might also be interested in the new range of home loans deals launched by Santander earlier this week.
